Margaret Amond

I find great joy in colour and textiles. Since my early childhood I have had great fortune in meeting like-minded people and have gleaned my style of painting from many teachers over the years. I began painting and working with fabrics at a young age and in many of my paintings the two mediums come together in a painterly fashion. I am excited by the combinations of colour and experiencing their warmth. I also enjoy using mixed media, especially collage and found materials.

I had a period of ceramics and soft sculptures and exhibited with the Sculpture Association of Victoria. I had great involvement with Beaumaris Art Group over many years and was their president in 2003.

Music and painting go together in my life. One of my inspirations is Janet Seidel whose jazz CDs often play in the background while I paint. I take a sketchbook everywhere and gain ideas from concerts, people in cafes and the streets here and overseas. Over the years I have had a number of exhibitions, solo and with others.The most recent was at the Merricks Store Gallery. Currently most of my work is sold by way of consignment.
