My paintings are an exploration of the bush landscape where I attempt to capture the spirit of it’s many layers of colour, texture and mysterious light and reflections. I am drawn to and continually paint the coastal bush and shorelines of the Mornington Peninsula, the Victorian alpine regions and the Eltham environment that, upon my bush walks have fascinated me for many years.
My style is expressive and quite gestural. For me the ‘flora subject matter’ is only a starting point from which to exploit and take risks with the mediums of water colour, gouache, oil or mixed media.
