Catherine De Boise

Catherine is inspired by the interplay of light and landscape with her artworks reflecting her ongoing exploration of the unique beauty of the Mornington Peninsula coastline. She aims to evoke a sense of place and timelessness, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect on the natural beauty of this extraordinary region.

“Each piece captures the subtle shifts in light as it dances across coastal plants, dunes, and pathways, revealing the intricate textures and colours of the environment. The works are a meditation on both the fleeting and enduring qualities of the coastal scene. The way the sunlight touches the native flora, the way the land curves and shifts, and the way these elements interact with the ever-changing sky and sea.”

Cathy Usatoff

For Cathy, with her style best described as contemporary Impressionism, she has immersed herself in the landscapes of the Mornington Peninsula. The boundaries between observation and personal expression intersect, crafting vibrant, evocative scenes that reflect her connection to the region.

Her paintings explore the seasonal transformations of the region’s coastal bushland, wineries, and farmland. She aims to transport her audience to a world where the colours of the landscape, the mood of the seasons, and the character of the land all come together to form a cohesive narrative of the region’s natural beauty.

“The Mornington Peninsula is more than just a scenic backdrop, but a place that evokes memory, nostalgia, and a sense of a place.”
